“GPWC remains united,” the group — made up of representatives of BMW, DaimlerChrysler, FIAT, Renault and Ford — said in a statement after a meeting of executives at the Spanish Grand Prix.

“While we note the proposals from (holding company) SLEC to improve distribution of income from the sport to the teams, the other key objectives that we laid out remain outstanding.”

“GPWC believes that all of these objectives must be met to secure the future of the sport beyond the term of the current Concorde Agreement which expires in 2007,” it added.

SLEC, the holding company owned 75 percent by banks and 25 percent by Ecclestone’s family trust, controls the commercial rights to Formula One.

The GPWC group last month terminated a memorandum of understanding with SLEC that would have shelved any prospect of a rival series, Reuters said.

Since then the governing International Automobile Federation (FIA) has announced a package of radical changes to be introduced by 2008 while Ecclestone has promised teams that he will give them a greater share of the revenues, the report added.
