Basque’s regional government in Spain is actively targeting Germany as a destination for its exports, with the automotive sector forming a key sector of its overseas business.
“Germany is the second destination for Basque exports, Basque deputy industry Minister, Juan Ignacio Motiloa, told delegates at the European Automotive Congress organised by European Conference Management in the northern Spain city of Bilbao.

“We are about to open a Basque office in Germany in the next couple of months. Right now we are closely studying what Germany is doing.
“Germany is becoming stronger and stronger though its exports. Half of German growth in the last decade came from exports.”
Motiloa noted the the Basque automotive components sector played a major role in the region, with the area enjoying high per capita income and claiming the highest productivity levels of workers in Spain.
