Ssangyong Motors

Ssangyong Motors, which is now controlled by India’s Mahindra group, reported a 20.7% jump in global sales to 145,649 units, from 120,670 units in 2012. Its performance was underpinned by the new Korando SUV, with demand in Russia and China particularly strong.

Domestic sales increased by 6.7% to 63,970 units, from 59,926 units previously, while overseas sales were 34.5% higher at 81,679 units, from 60,744 units.

Renault-Samsung

Renault-Samsung was the worst performer of the top-five Korean automakers last year, with global sales falling by over 15% to 131,010 units, from 154,309 units previously. This mostly reflects weak demand for its flagship SM5 model.

Domestic sales increased by almost 26%, but this was more than offset by a massive 33% drop in overseas sales to 70,983 units.
