South Korea still plans to stage the world's first hydrogen mobility energy show this year, as it looks to secure its global leadership in hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles and related industries.

The show will be organised by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA) which plans to stage the event at the KINTEX exhibition hall in Seoul between 1-3 July.

It was originally scheduled to be held in March before the world was overwhelmed by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The show will be sponsored by local automakers such as Hyundai Motor Group which itself is one of the leading hydrogen fuel cell vehicle manufacturers worldwide.

A KAMA official said the "exhibition will help advance the South Korean government's "hydrogen economy road map" which aims to foster hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles and other hydrogen related businesses as drivers of future economic growth.

This week, Hyundai said it would build hydrogen refueling facilities at Incheon International Airport, the country's main international gateway, in collaboration with France's Air Liquide.

Once construction is completed by March 2021, Hyundai will provide hydrogen fuel cell powered airport service buses.
