That compared to 10,069 units sold in July 2008, 4,409 exported.
The company said production had been suspended since late May because of the strikes protesting its restructuring plans, leading to the “weak” sales.
Meanwhile, Renault Samsung booked 19,132 sales last month versus 22,525 a year previously. Of those, 5,476 were exported.
The Korean Renault unit makes the Kaleos crossover for its French parent as well as its own-brand models.
GM Daewoo Automotive and Technology sales for July totalled 45,064, well down on the 79,395 units sold in July last year. Most – 35,726 – were exported, branded Chevrolet.
