Global sales at Ssangyong Motors slumped by 27.5% in November to 4,416 units as the strength of the won took its toll on exports.

Domestic sales rose 6.4% for the month to 5,806 units helping to increase sales by 5.9% for the first 11 months of the year.

Exports, which had been recovering, plummeted by 41.5% for the month with Mahindra-owned Ssangyong citing the Ukraine crisis for the reduction in shipments to its main markets.

Lee Yoo-il, CEO of Ssangyong Motor, said: “Even though our exports declined due to external environmental factors, it is very meaningful that our domestic sales have maintained the uptrend since 2009.”
