In the first seven months of the year the firm managed just 13,000 units due to lower demand and the impact of the strike.

Reports in Korea also suggest the firm is about to get more financial support from the government.

Knowledge Economy Minister Lee Youn-ho has said the company is striving for self-rescue and the government is considering providing additional liquidity support.

An emergency fund managed by the state-run Small & Medium Business Corporation will be used for the support. The fund provides support to technically advanced small- and medium-sized enterprises under temporary management problems.

Reports say the financial program will be used for Ssangyong’s contractors engaged in the development of the C200, its latest model which will be launched next year.
