According to the Korea Times, Hyundai Mobis, an auto parts arm of the Hyundai Automotive Group, said on Monday it has begun supplying ESP, the most advanced driving dynamics system available, to Hyundai Motor for its new Sonata mid-sized sedan, which will be introduced to the market next month.
Through technical cooperation with German auto part maker Bosch, Mobis has become the first domestic manufacturer to produce the ESP, Mobis reportedly said.
Previously, some Korean luxury sedans, including Hyundai Motor’s Equus 450 model, have been equipped with an imported ESP.
Mobis began commercial production of the ESP after completing the construction of an ESP plant with an annual production capacity of one million units last December.
Mobis plans to provide new vehicles by Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors with the system in the future, the paper said.
