“More than a half of members opposed the arrangement,” a union official told Reuters by phone.
Kia and its union reached a tentative wage deal for the year earlier this week. The rejection would put Kia in the same position as its Hyundai Motor affiliate, where workers have also voted against a tentative deal.
Kia’s union members have staged a number of partial strikes since July, 1 with some 6,676 vehicles lost from output, according to the company’s estimates.
Continued industrial action and discord at Hyundai-Kia comes amid a background of slower sales and worsening profitability for the company.
