From January to December of last year, the Hyundai Motor affiliate exported 840,056 vehicles, a 10.5% rise over 2004.
Export sales in December 2005 reached 62,476 units with Europe the largest market (27,739 vehicles sold).
For the year, 319,611 Kia vehicles were sold in Europe (a 45.7% year-on-year increase), 303,880 vehicles were sold in North America (a 2.5% year-on-year increase), and 188,185 cars were sold in the ‘general market’ – regions of central and south America, Asia/Pacific, and the Middle East and Africa (a 28.6% year-on-year increase).
Kia sold 417,920 passenger cars in overseas markets in 2005. The A-segment Picanto hatchback was its top model with 117,939 units sold.
329,990 ‘recreational vehicles’ were also sold overseas, with the Sorento SUV accounting for 117,827 of the total.
