A surpise drop occurred in China (off 11.8% to 114,601) offset by a 15.2% rise to 198,850 in general markets and 0.6% to 272,330 in the Korean home market.
North America sales rose 5.1% in 2007 to 340,293 units while Europe sales were up 4.3% to 343,090 units.
“Most of Kia’s sales fluctuations between 2006 and [2007] can be explained by the usual consumer patterns surrounding the phasing out of models and introduction of new ones,” the company said.
