Sales of imported cars in South Korea increased more than 34% to 17,027 units in September, from 12,668 units a year earlier, according to data released by the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association.

The overall market in South Korea, including domestic brands, amounted to 127,627 units last month.
Importers increased their combined share of sales to 13.3%, thanks to new models and aggressive marketing.
Cumulative sales of foreign brands rose by almost 26% 145,844 units in the first nine months of the year, compared with 116,085 units in the same period of 2013.
