Hyundai Motor Comp. is considering building assembly plants in both Europe and North America, reports Automotive News (10/7/00) citing Hyundai Motor Company`s Chairman.

In a rare interview, Hyundai Chairman Chung Mong-Koo laid out several points in the company`s strategic planning including the possible addition of capacity outside Korea.

President of Hyundai`s Research and Development Division, Lee Chung-Goo, stressed that valuable lessons in plant location were learnt from Hyundai`s previous experience in Bromont, Quebec, where the company produced vehicles from kits between 1990-94.
