Overseas sales were up to 238,611 from 159,031 a year ago.


Affiliate Kia booked a 69% rise to 163,177 units.  Overseas sales of 124,171 compared with 72,363 a year before.


GM Daewoo volume dipped 23% to 57,543 versus 74,755 in 2008. Overseas sales were down to 43,261 from 64,169.


Renault Samsung September sales were up 16.6% to 19,357 but overseas sales slipped to 6,129 from 8,829.


Ssangyong Motor sales were down 39% to 5,488. Overseas sales of 3,007 compared with 5,449 in September 2008.
