General Motors Corp. said homemade firebombs were thrown into its Seoul branch early on Friday, with leaflets protesting job cuts and other reforms at Daewoo Motor, which the world’s largest automaker may buy, a report from Bloomberg News said.

Molotov cocktails, makeshift incendiary bombs made of bottles filled with flammable liquid and rag wicks, were thrown into the first floor of the U.S. automaker’s offices located in Songsu-dong, eastern Seoul, at around 3 a.m., police said. There were leaflets that protested ongoing reforms at Daewoo Motor, a spokesman told Bloomberg News.

“There was no major damage because the company was renovating the first floor” where the fire bomb was thrown, Ken Hong, a public relations official in charge of General Motors’ Seoul offices at KPR Communications, told the news organisation.

General Motor and partner Fiat SpA are conducting a due diligence on Daewoo Motor and related companies to try and negotiate a price for the vehicle maker.
