The agreement was supported by 68.7% of union members who voted, the company said in a statement.

GM Daewoo’s union members have staged partial strikes and refused overtime since July over the wage deal, resulting in lost output of about 45,000 vehicles, according to the company.

The annual pattern of pay disputes at car companies is familiar to observers of the Korean auto industry. However, cost pressures at the companies and the impact of inflation on workers’ incomes have added to their intensity this year.

Problems remain at Hyundai Motor where workers have voted against a tentative wage deal.
