GM Daewoo Auto and Technology Co. has started shipping its new Matiz/Spark mini car to Europe as the South Korean unit looks to expand its global sales.

GM Daewoo now acts as GM’s global mini car development centre, and the fourth generation Matiz will be badged Chevrolet Spark in most overseas markets.
Around 20,000 units will be exported to Europe by the end of this year in readiness to start sales early in 2010.
In the first 10 months of this year, GM Daewoo’s total vehicle sales including exports and domestic sales plunged 41.2% from a year ago to 457,955 units as demand dropped off due to the global financial crisis.
