General Motors is holding its annual company-wide executive meeting this week in South Korea, where it launched its car production affiliate GM Daewoo Auto & Technology late last year, GM Daewoo said on Monday, according to Dow Jones Newswires.

The report said that more than 80 GM executives from around the world, as well as employees at GM’s European office, are participating in the meeting to discuss the company’s global marketing plans and will also visit GM Daewoo’ production facilities.
“GM’s gathering in Korea shows how important the role of GM Daewoo is in…GM’s global and regional business strategies. This is a good example of GM’s interest in the Korean market,” GM Daewoo told Dow Jones, which noted that GM last October took over the major car manufacturing facilities of failed Daewoo Motor Co. as part of plans to expand its presence in north-east Asia.
GM held its annual meeting in Thailand last year, GM Daewoo told Dow Jones.
