MSF, the union for skilled and professional people, is today seeking urgent meetings with the management of Daewoo’s Technical Centre in Worthing, following Daewoo in Korea declaring itself bankrupt. MSF wants Daewoo’s Korean management to put the Worthing Technical Centre on the market as a stand alone concern immediately. This is because as a state of the art, modern and well equipped centre it could easily service other industries as well as servicing any of the other car companies with operations in the UK and world-wide.

The calls follows months
of uncertainty for the workers at Daewoo and a whole series of events including
redundancies, non-payment of wages and finally the bankruptcy announcement today.

to attract buyers as an independent concern if the Daewoo management allow the
Technical Centre to be sold as a stand alone concern.
“I am today asking
the Secretary of State for Trade & Industry to intervene, to allow a breathing
space for negotiations with potential buyers.
