The facility, which covers about 2,300 square-meters, has the capacity to build 240,000 units per annum – or one unit every minute. It will operate a two-shift production system with over 50 employees at full production to manufacture, assemble and ship to the Ford engine plant, eight kilometres away.

Local suppliers from Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth produce some of the components used in the manifold.

“The facility is strategically located to ensure just-in-time delivery to the Ford Engine Plant,” said Andy Dealtry, Visteon’s Port Elizabeth Plant Manager. “We have talented and skilled team members who are highly committed to delivering top quality products to our customer.”

“Visteons investment in our facility in Port Elizabeth demonstrates our commitment to support the growth and success of our customer,” said Len Tedesco, Director, Ford Powertrain (Europe). “Air fuel charge assemblies – or inlet systems – like the one being made here, are one of the most important components in ensuring that vehicles meet mandatory emission standards.”
