The South African automotive industry is losing business due to the land-grab situation within Zimbabwe, say local media reports citing the country`s top car importer (29/8/00).

The SA report says that the SA Government’s failure to respond to the Zimbabwean land-grab issue has seen car buyers delay car purchases, undermining business confidence which in turn affects jobs.

Quoting Mannie De Canha, Head of Associated Motor Holdings, South Africa’s top motor importer, the report says that the sharp drop-off in consumer purchasing of new cars last month can only be attributed to the SA Government not responding to the Zimbabwean land-grab problem.

SA media – citing De Canha – says that the Government’s inability to deal with Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is affecting growth in SA.
