Revoz, a unit of Renault, produced 30,054 cars in the first two months of 2008, down by some 7,000 from the year-ago period, local business daily Finance has reported.

Last month, Revoz said it would raise its daily output to 880 units in the middle of April from the current 750 to meet rising demand on the German market. It plans to employ an additional 150 for a definite period of time.

Revoz decreased its daily output to 750 from 900 units as of November 1, 2008, in response to flagging demand on foreign markets, and slashed the number of employees by some 200 to 3,000.

Revoz produced 198,096 cars in 2008, slightly down from its record high output of 200,162 cars a year earlier.
