Renault is to cut a night shift at its Slovenian plant later this month as ongoing shortages of electronic components from Japan continue to cause problems in Europe.
About 520 temporary jobs will be affected of 2,346 employees at the Novo Mesto factory, which produces mainly the Twingo but also Wind and Clio Campus models.

“It is due to the parts shortage from Japan,” a Renault spokeswoman in Paris told just-auto. “The reduction starts on 23 May and is until we get back to normal in components.
“Contracts won’t be renewed – we do think it will be short-term but to give a precise re-start date unfortunately we can’t predict that – it will be in terms of months.”
Novo Mesto currently produces around 1,500 models per week, with Renault estimating the cutback would see customers having to wait a further week for deliveries.
Renault said it would continue to operate two shifts at its Novo Mesto plant.
