Kia Motors’ Slovak plant last year hiked net profit to EUR155.46m from EUR68.63m as sales increased 17.7% to EUR3.92bn.
The plant located near Zilina in the north of the country said earlier that car output was 15% higher at a record 292,050 units last year, a local news agency.
This year’s projection is 290,000 cars.
Engine production, including engines supplied to parent Hyundai in Nosovice in the east of the Czech Republic, grew 29% to over 464,000 units.
Last year’s spend on new technology, completion of a logistics centre and raising of capacity stood was EUR120m, two-fifths less year on year.
