SKF has opened a sealing solutions factory in Zapopan, Mexico, located near the Group’s existing plant in Guadalajara, allowing for continued production increase, mainly for automotive OEMs in North America.
“Our expansion in Mexico enables us to continue to develop our seals business across North America,” said SKF president, Automotive and Aerospace, Stéphane Le Mounier.
“Combining manufacturing technologies with our existing logistics infrastructure in the region will both contribute to improved production efficiency and service levels for our customers.”
Production at the new factory will be ramping up during the coming six months.
Concurrently, manufacture will be transferred from the Group’s factory in Hobart, Oklahoma, which is in the process of being closed.
In-line with the Group’s ambitions to reduce the environmental impact of its operations, the new factory will be LEED certified.
