SKC Company, a subsidiary of South Korean conglomerate SK Group, announced it has finalised plans to build a copper foil plant in Poland which will allow it to strengthen its presence in the European electric vehicle (EV) supply chain.
SKC and its battery copper foil subsidiary SK Nexilis Company signed a final agreement this week with the Polish government to build a copper foil manufacturing facility in the southern Polish city of Stalowa Wola.

SKC said it will invest KRW900bn (US$760bn) in the new factory, with construction scheduled to begin in the first half of next year in the city’s newly established industrial zone. When completed in 2024 it will have a production capacity of 50,000 tons per year.
SKC said it is looking to increase copper foil production in Europe to 100,000 tons per year in the future. The company is also looking to invest in a 50,000 ton/year copper foil plant in North America.
SKC currently has a plant in South Korea with an annual production capacity of 52,000 tons and a 50,000 ton/year facility in Malaysia.
