The automaker was taking part at the Smart City Congress in Barcelona with technological innovations such as the new Ateca with Smart City Connectivity, a pioneering project that makes it easy to find parking and to share the car with other users. It is displaying Digital Sharing vision, the urban experience provided by the Ateca and the iCity collaborative platform, a system which partners the company with the Barcelona Council and Cellnex Telecom.
The brand, which is undergoing a digital transformation process, is eager to become a leading brand in the field of connectivity and digitisation.
The multinational is based just outside Barcelona and has a technical centre there which operates as a knowledge hub that brings together 1,000 engineers who are focused on developing innovation for Spain's largest industrial investor in R&D. The VW unit already features the latest connectivity technology in its vehicle range and is currently engaged in the company's global digitisation process to promote the mobility of the future.
