The new technology is especially adaptable to operators’ specific routes and ‘transport profiles’, the truck maker said.

“Fully integrated autonomous solutions means technology fitted and supported directly from the factory and a system that is designed to be operated by our customers in their existing infrastructure and operational flows,” said Peter Hafmar, head of autonomous.

Scania expects improved operating efficiency, lower emissions and improves road safety while also addressing a growing global driver shortage.

The company has been testing autonomous transport on Swedish roads since 2021 and plans to expand pilot operations with customers in other European countries this year.

So far, the Level 4 system is being tested with a safety driver on board.

The two companies will pilot commercial operations with fleets then start volume production and global use.
