German-based business software giant SAP and Bosch are planning to work closely together on connected vehicles and industrial machines over the internet. It's part of an initiative in Germany to improve connectivity and standards involving equipment in use and manufacturing infrastructure, with implications in automotive components manufacturing.
Bloomberg reported that SAP's Hana data-analysis software will run on Bosch's cloud-computing system for industrial customers and SAP will draw on Bosch's expertise in connecting factory equipment, tools and vehicles. The cooperation comes as SAP and Bosch host a meeting of German and US industrial groups in Germany.

The report said that companies including General Electric Co., Siemens AG and Bosch are investing in building sensor systems and software that can analyse data from forklifts, windmills, factory equipment and cars to speed up operations.
Bloomberg said the 'pact' gives SAP the potential to find new applications for its software among the manufacturers that use Bosch's machines and automakers that use its parts.
The report also noted that the German government has championed industrial-internet projects that can boost Germany's manufacturing base into the future and help sectors like automaking remain competitive with Silicon Valley.
