Russia’s second largest car and truck maker GAZ plans to export 500 Volga cars and Sobol minivans to Morocco in 2006, the Prime-Tass news agency reported, citing Sergei Shunin, director of OOO Torgovy Dom Russkiye Mashiny’s (Russian Vehicles Trading House) export department.
Russian Vehicles Trading House is in charge of GAZ’ sales.
The first five vehicles have already been exported and currently are being tested in Morocco, Shunin reportedly said, adding that all vehicles are specially equipped and built to withstand the high temperatures in the African country.
Shunin also added that GAZ is considering exporting vehicles to Mali, Senegal, Nigeria and Guinea, Prime-Tass said. GAZ also exports its vehicles to Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, Cuba and other countries.
