Russia’s Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, or UAZ, has resumed production after a lengthy suspension that coincided with Russian national holidays.
Prime-Tass reported that the closure was longer than initially expected due to worsening demand conditions in Russia.
Production at the plant was suspended on December 25, 2008 and was initially expected to resume on February 9.
In 2008, UAZ produced 24,411 trucks, down 0.9% on the year; 30,953 cars, down 2.9% on the year; and 16,817 buses, down 7.9% on the year.
UAZ is part of Russian auto group Sollers, previously known as Severstal Auto.
