Prime-Tass cited a Toyota Motor Manufacturing Russia as saying the company would halt production at the plant, which produces the Camry from 3 to 16 August.

Toyota sales in Russia decreased 57.2% year-on-year to 38,000 vehicles in the January-June period, the company said earlier this month.

Toyota’s best-selling cars in the period were the Corolla, with 8,299 cars sold, and Camry (9,559).

Most car companies are experiencing big falls in sales in Russia this year as a sharp economic downturn combined with a shortage of credit has hit sales hard.
