Prime-TASS reports that the government of the Russian constituent republic of Tatarstan is still in negotiations with Chinese car manufacturer Great Wall on setting up an assembly plant in the special economic zone of Yelabuga.

Tatarstan’s Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov told a news conference earlier this week:
“Negotiations are taking place, we are interested in Chinese carmakers participating in the special economic zone,” he said.
Great Wall’s representatives are expected to hold a meeting with officials from Russia’s Economic Development and Trade Ministry, he added.
The government of Tatarstan is seeking to register two or three major car producers in Yelabuga that would produce about 100,000 cars per year, Minnikhanov said.
