Nissan has started production of the redesigned X-trail at St Petersburg as the company boosts manufacturing in Russia.
To cater for one of its biggest markets, the automaker is boosting production so that, by 2016, 90% of its vehicles sold in Russia are built there. Nissan said it would reinvesting 90% of profits locally to continue creating jobs and boosting the wider economy and supplier chain.

It is doubling the production capacity at St Petersburg to 100,000 vehicles and is increasing the number of models produced there from three to five. Last August, production of the redesigned Pathfinder started and the latest Qashqai will be soon be added.
