“We are considering three variants of setting up our own production,” the paper quoted Nissan executive vice president Patrick Pelata.

He reportedly said Nissan could use Renault’s plant in Moscow, but there would be difficulties with widening production within a city. Another option is creating a plant from scratch, but it was expensive and risky.

“In this case we must be 100% sure that the Russian market will be growing in the next 10 years,” Pelata reportedly said. “But we are not sure of this.”

Nissan is also considering a joint venture with Russia’s car-maker GAZ, Reuters added.
