Mazda Sollers Manufacturing Rus, the new 50-50 assembly joint venture between the Japanese and Russian vehicle makers, has held a ceremony to mark the establishment of their accord.
The CX-5 will be the plant’s first Mazda model, with cars due to start rolling off the line at the Vladivostok factory in Russia’s Far East Federal District from October.
At first, this will be an SKD assembly operation but Mazda says it hopes to eventually double the initial 50,000 annual capacity and add a paint shop and body shop. The Mazda6 is to be added “in the future”, the partners have previously announced.
