Leading domestic brand Lada saw sales in 2010 increase by almost half as the Russian auto industry benefited from the government scrappage incentive scheme.
According to owner AvtoVAZ, sales grew 48% over 2009, to 517,147 cars. The company credited the scrappage scheme with sales of 221,584 cars.

Russia’s car output rose 98% year on year to 1.081m units in January-November, the country’s economic development ministry said in December. Truck production rose 67.4% on the year to 137,000 vehicles in this period.
The ministry attributed the growth to post-crisis recovery and government programmes to stimulate the auto industry.
The performance of the Lada was in line with forecasts the company made in September but ahead of estimates made at the start of 2010.
