Russia’s largest maker of heavy trucks, Kamaz, has halted truck exports to Iraq due to war there, Kamaz Deputy General Director Anatoly Samarenkin told the ITAR-TASS news agency on Friday.

Samarenkin said Kamaz has exported 100 trucks to Iraq since the beginning of the year. Kamaz also shipped unspecified number of spare parts before the start of military operations.
Earlier this year, Kamaz signed a contract with Iraq’s Ministry of Transport to supply 3,000 trucks to Iraq in 2003. Kamaz will meet its obligations if the contract remains valid after the end of military operations, Samarenikin said.
The company exports its vehicles mainly to Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Iraq and the UAE, as well as to other CIS, Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern countries.
In 2002, Kamaz produced 20,056 trucks, down 10.6% on the year, and exported 6,100 trucks, including 2,500 to Iraq.
