Hyundai’s subcompact Accent became the second best selling car in Russia in the first half of this year, behind the Lada Granta and ahead of stablemate the Kia Rio, according to the Moscow-based Association of European Businesses.
Hyundai sold 57,009 Accents (the model is sold as the Solaris) in Russia between January and June, a drop of 2% versus the same period last year. Granta sales were 84,241, up 87%, while Rio volume climbed 5% to 42,019.

The biggest riser was the Renault Duster with sales up 227% to 40,710 to claim fourth spot ahead of the Lada Kalina (37,081 sales, down 45%).
Overall car sales in the first half of the year were down 6% to 1.33m from 1.41m in the same period last year, according to the AEB.
