Hyundai Motor is expected to break ground in June for a car assembly plant in Russia’s Leningrad Region, Valentina Matviyenko, the governor of St Petersburg, said at a news conference yesterday.

Prime-Tass reported that the ceremony is expected to take place during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The forum will take place from June 6 to June 8.


According to earlier reports, Hyundai plans to spend about USD400m to build a plant with an annual capacity of 100,000-200,000 cars with production starting in 2010.
