Hyundai plans to start exporting Solaris sedans manufactured at its Russian plant in April, its press office said.

Hyundai has already signed contracts to supply Solaris sedans from Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus to Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan. The export orders for 2011 currently amount to 8,000 vehicles, Prime-Tass reported.

Hyundai spent over US$500m on a plant in St Petersburg which began mass production in January. The plant’s annual production capacity was initially projected at 150,000 vehicles, while the company said it expected the capacity to increase to 200,000 vehicles per year by 2012. In 2011, the automaker expects to produce 105,000 units.
