The Russian government has prolonged the current import duties on foreign cars for nine months, under the relevant ruling published in the Rossiiskaya Gazeta newspaper and also effective from today (12 October).

Current duties on foreign cars used for less than five years are between EUR1.50 and EUR3.60 per cubic centimeter of engine capacity while duties on cars used for more than five years run between EUR2.50 and EUR5.80 per cc.
The government imposed current duties in January. They were expected to be valid for nine months with the aim of supporting domestic car production.
