Production capacity is 1m car body panels annually.
In early 2010, the company built a $27.3m stamping shop with a projected annual capacity of 1.37m panels a year.
The new facilities will enable GM Uzbekistan to increase production of panels to 9.7m units annually from 7.3m units and are intended for GM Daewoo-designed Lacetti cars, launched in November 2008, and an A segment model to be launched in August.
The project was financed with the company’s own funds, Uzavtoprom said.
