The report cited a local GM manager as source.
Although the report contained no details on what the second model would be, it is considered likely that it will be a variant from the Opel Astra range.
The first model, the Chevrolet Niva, rolled off the assembly line at the new GM-AvtoVAZ joint venture plant at the end of last month.
For the first full year of production, the GM-AvtoVAZ JV plans to produce 35,000 Chevrolet Nivas. By 2005, production is expected to reach 75,000 units. The Niva will be sold in Russia from later this year, with exports to Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America planned to begin in October 2003.
GM is also said to be considering a plan to extend its alliance with AvtoVAZ to include the manufacture of engines.
