The output of US-Russian auto manufacturing joint venture GM-AvtoVAZ decreased 28.3% on year to 9,661 cars in January-March, the company said Thursday.

GM-AvtoVAZ’ sales amounted to 9,165 vehicles in the period, the company told Prime-Tass without providing a comparison.
GM-AvtoVAZ produces Chevrolet Niva sport-utility vehicles (SUVs) and Viva cars in Russia.
GM-AvtoVAZ’ output amounted to 51,810 vehicles in 2005, down from 57,737 in 2004.
GM-AvtoVAZ was founded in 2002 by General Motors and AvtoVAZ, which both hold 41.5% stakes in the venture, while the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has a 17% stake.
