GAZ Group told just-auto late on Monday (7 August) that it is not interested in acquiring Jaguar, should Ford decide to sell the luxury unit as part of a strategic review.

The Russian manufacturer, which last week bought UK-based van firm LDV for GBP50m (US$95.5m), was linked with Jaguar by the UK press at the weekend, along with automaker Hyundai.

But GAZ Group deputy chairman and head of communications, Elena Mateeva, told just-auto: “The group is not going to invest in Jaguar. The group is considering different options, but we are interested in commercial vehicles and powertrains, not cars.”
