The Siber is an updated version of the previous generation Chrysler Sebring/Dodge Stratus line built with tooling bought from Chrysler and plant set-up help from Magna, which assembles some export market Chrysler and Jeep models under contract in Austria.

The Russian plant is currently producing Sibers to dealer order but currently has few to fill. The assembly line has a production capacity of over 100,000 cars per year, Pugin told the Prime-Tass news agency.

GAZ launched commercial production of the Siber last July and built around 2,000 in 2008. It plans to make around 16,000 cars this year.
