GAZ Group says it has secured whole vehicle type approval allowing it to sell GAZelle Next vans in the European Union (EU).
The automaker has reworked and tested the vehicle for more than a year to receive the certificate, with tests carried out in Russia and overseas.
There currently is no equipment for testing EURO-5 vehicle emission standards in Russia, resulting in evaluation being undertaken in Spain.
GAZ added it is negotiating with potential – unnamed – distributors in several EU countries to create a sales system and service operation.
“Extension of export deliveries is the one of the spheres of GAZ strategic development, which is especially important when the commercial vehicles market in Russia is reducing,” said GAZ Group president, Vadim Sorokin.
“[The] European certificate grants us the right to sell GAZelle NEXT Euro-5 in 28 European Union countries and we have a similar certificate for selling AWD Gazelle Business and Sobol Business vehicles.
