Ford plans to double sales in Russia this year to 120,000 cars, John Fleming, president of Ford of Europe, told an industry conference on Wednesday.


Ford plans to assemble 60,000 Focus cars at its plant in Russia’s Leningrad Region this year and 70,000 cars in 2007, he said, according to Prime-Tass.


In 2005, the plant assembled 39,774 cars.


Ford’s sales through official dealerships in Russia totalled 60,564 units in 2005, up 54.3% year on year.
