The output of foreign-branded cars amounted to 92,000 units in the period, down 50% on the year.


Companies operating under industrial assembly agreements with Russia produced 71,600 cars in the period, down 35.4% on the year, the ministry said.


Industrial assembly agreements eliminate or substantially reduce import duties on foreign auto components.


In 2008, car output in Russia was at 1.725m units, up 3.9% on the year, ASM Holding, which monitors the country’s automotive industry, said earlier.
